The client is a $24-billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader of aerospace products and services, control technologies for buildings, homes and industry, automotive products, power generation systems, specialty chemicals, fibres, plastics, and advanced materials. The company employs approximately 125,000 people in 95 countries and operates hundreds of facilities across the world.
The client was migrating its Oracle implementation from Rel.10.7 to Rel.11i. Along with migration of the current implementation, the company also required to migrate about 2000 Custom Objects at 5 different instances across Europe and USA. The review and porting of these Custom Objects was being seen as an expensive and time-consuming process and for the client required a high quality, cost effective solution.
Zensar migrated over 1200 Custom Objects at 3 instances across Europe and another 600 customizations at 2 instances in US. The project was executed on an Offshore-Onsite model using Zensar's well-documented and institutionalized offshore-onsite methodology. The methodology comprised of onsite requirement gathering and offshore migration of Custom Objects.
Zensar performed offshore compilation and testing of the migrated Custom Objects, using dedicated communication links with client instances across Europe and Virtual Private Network (VPN) with client instances in USA.
Use of Offshore facilities in India brought about time reduction in development, setting up larger teams offshore and extending the work hours due to time difference between US, UK and India thereby benefiting the client by cutting cost. The client was also able to utilise its key resources in more strategic tasks during the migration process.
