Zensar Technologies Ltd and the Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT) today, signed a collaboration agreement to deploy state-of-art technology and set up an innovative center for resource development for the Indian IT industry. Zensar will install its innovative Virtual Global Delivery Platform (GDP) that will permit the VIT Center to function as a virtual training and development extension of Zensar’s own software development campus. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of NASSCOM’s first Executive Council meeting in Pune at the Zensar campus in the presence of Kiran Karnik, President, NASSCOM and other members of the NASSCOM IT Work Force Development (ITWD) initiative by Dr. Ganesh Natarajan, Deputy Chairman & MD, Zensar Technologies and Bharat Agarwal, Director-VIT.
Zensar has offered the student community with an opportunity to work closely on their projects and to expose them to mature software engineering processes and practices equipping them to be a part of the global team of professionals working on world-class business solutions. Under the initiative, students will be trained on the implementation of Zensar’s unique framework and innovation in technology, Solution BluePrint (SBP). The Virtual Global Delivery Platform (VGDP) will enable students to work on the SBP framework remotely at their own campuses, connected with Zensar’s Innovation Centres in Pune and Hyderabad. The student community of the University would work on projects out of this hub in real-time. Commenting on this effort, Kiran Karnik, President, NASSCOM said, “India has maintained its lead in the IT sector owing to inherent advantages like abundant talent supply, strong cost-and-leadership oriented companies, regulatory support, scalable high-quality infrastructure, and a growing domestic market, which have been instrumental in driving the growth of this sector. One key issue, especially in technical education is the curriculum, which is sometimes obsolete. To remedy this, the IT industry has been working with universities and institutions in an attempt to upgrade and update the curriculum under NASSCOM’s ITWD initiative.” “Zensar’s initiative in equipping VIT with the very latest innovations is an example of the industry’s effort to address the issue, and a welcome step. We are hopeful of increasing the number of such collaborations going forward”, he added. Echoing his thought, Bharat Agarwal, Director, VIT said, “We are extremely pleased that forums such as Nasscom, UGC and organizations like Zensar have come forward to partner with us. We are certain that this will provide our students an edge over their global counterparts and enhance the quality of IT education in the country. Partnerships such as these will eventually result in a more effective education system and a nation equipped with necessary intellectual competence and competitiveness.” The initiative aims to leverage technology to the benefit of students in India and around the world, and to strengthen the industry-academia relationship. As part of the initiative, students would be offered ‘live projects’ to provide adequate work experience creating ‘business-ready’ professionals for the IT industry. On the occasion, Dilip Ittyera, Global Head of Zensar’s Innovative Technology Solutions (ITS) Business said, “Making a beginning with VIT in Pune, we plan to take this initiative beyond IT students, to include even graduates from diverse streams, and people from different domain experience, even geographies.” This unique partnership is driven by the purpose to engage two inter-dependent communities more effectively, and to place students on the fast-track to meeting changing industry needs.
This is one more step taken in an initiative which has emerged from the NASSCOM initiative, with UGC to set up Technology Development Centres (TDC) in worthy institutions across the country.
