Remote Execution

Customer

Leading provider of Computing and Telecommunications platforms

Challenge

Remotely distribute, install and execute the diagnostic tests on different hardware devices and collect and analyze the results centrally

Solution

  • With the idea of remote execution of diagnostic tests, lots of time and efforts involved in diagnostic tests for mass production, and collection of results, analysis are saved
  • The base application required for testing the hardware components connected to test machines is remotely installed from the central server.
  • The tests to be carried out are scheduled from the same central server and sent to respective test machine(s) for execution.
  • Test Machine(s) execute the required test using the base application and send the test status and the test results back to the central server.
  • The basic data communication is through XML using the web services.
  • The monitoring of test status and analyze of the test results can be carried out from the central location.
  • The tool is now being extended to handheld devices like Pocket PCs, bringing in the flexibility and mobility for the diagnostic tests to be executed, monitoring of test status and analysis of the test results.
  • A prototype has been developed for Pocket PC and the future plan is to have the data communication through customized SyncML and XML and also provide support for the execution of this application on Pocket PCs, Smartphones and Symbian OS Phones
