Multi Shore Development
Offshore IT services in India, which initially evolved from a ‘Dual-Shore’ model (primarily between the Customer Location & India) has now effectively adapted a Multi-Shore approach:
- This is especially true for product development scenarios where companies are increasingly going for a split-shore strategy to derive maximum benefit from the price and skills advantage.
- The Zensar Product Engineering Services group is well equipped to handle multi-shore development and implementation requirements.
- It has a proven process and methodology to achieve the same.
- The added benefit is a ’follow the sun’ strategy; which capitalizes on the time –zone differences to provide extended work days leading to a true 24x7 scenario.
Flexible Control
Zensar appreciates that product companies are very choosy about how they would like to go about an engagement and is geared to meet such specialist needs. One of the hallmarks of our Offshore Product Development Centers has been the high degree of flexibility and control that customers enjoy.
The flexible engagement model tailored for each customer ensures that customers have full visibility into the team’s performance – Via regular updates, conference calls and video-conferences.
You can even control the resources for all practical purposes via a Project Manager:
- The team members directly report to your personnel and are included as part of the your global team hierarchy.
- Additionally, these team members also form part of a hierarchy within Zensar.
- You gets the benefit of an established and fully running development center and the resources – which are true extensions of your own development team.
- The Joint Steering Committee oversees the entire operations
- The setup thus belongs to you for all logical and practical purposes.
Joint Team and Blended Culture
This has come with the tacit understanding that each product company has its own nuances and work-culture which should be matched at the offshore extension at Zensar:
- The existing Zensar product teams consider themselves to be part of their counterparts elsewhere, and follow the processes and work culture extended from overseas.
- This is even extended to areas like dress code – with the product teams often sporting the Customer’s product T-Shirt’s.
- Zensar, through its innovative and pro-active Human Resources department endeavors to create a unique ‘Culture’ for the centers, conduct cultural amalgamation sessions, etc to ensure that the Offshore team has a shared sense of purpose, identity and ownership with the Customer’s Overseas teams.
Core team concept
- Since knowledge retention is important, the team consists of a core team that is given special attention and which will be part of the project all the time.
- In addition to the core team, there will be additional team members as part of the ramp up team as and when required depending on the size and deadlines of a work pack at a given point of time, especially when the efforts required are more than the core team’s bandwidth.
Customer Involvement
- A Joint Development is undertaken, through continuous involvement and feedback from the customer.
- Iterative working through the requirement, design phases and work packs.
- Benefits are reduced rework and output closer to expectations
More stress on QA & Testing
- Besides unit, system, integration and black box testing, an iterative testing method is undertaken with multiple passes.
- This ensures a defect free output.
Shared stakes and risks
- Depending on the engagement model, Zensar enters into a risk/reward framework by means of which both partners benefit if the engagement does well.
- This acts as a motivating and driving factor for the project teams to do well.
