The client is UK’s largest awarding body to offer a range of both general and specialist qualifications, for UK and international markets. They are also a leading force in modernizing assessment, teaching and learning environments through the application of groundbreaking IT and other creative solutions.
The client faced numerous problems related to poor space management, waste space, un-organized roll back segments, Index rebuilds, performance issues etc. from its Oracle Apps Rel.11.5.2 to Rel.11.5.5 upgrade undertaken by their previous vendor. They wanted to outsource the entire oracle application service function, whilst benefiting from Zensar's high level of Oracle Applications expertise & 24x7 services. They also wanted remote DBA support for there multiple instances and functional support for their Oracle Financial module along with support for existing enhancements & designing and developing of new enhancement.
Zensar upgraded the Oracle applications Rel.11.5.5 to Rel.11.5.9 with custom code migration. It took up proactive database monitoring and periodic scheduling of backup & recovery. It also introduced new features like Undo Tablespace, CBO, Local Managed Tablespace, new init parameters etc. and converted Non-AutoConfig instance to AutoConfig. Zensar also performed an upgrade of database from 8.1.7.3 to 9i.
The solution resulted in a Centralized Database Administration that was undertaken by Zensar and ended up in Quality work & continuous increase in efficiency, due to SEI CMM Level 5 processes followed by Zensar. The client also benefited from Zensar's 24x7 team services and flexible service offering to achieve extended availability and minimum downtime.
