Almost two-and-a-half years after India-based software company Zensar Technologies announced plans to acquired Westborough, Mass.-based Akibia Inc., the Massachusetts company is finally taking the name of its parent and appointing a leader for the infrastructure management services (IMS) business unit. Zensar, which has 7,000 employees worldwide, bought Akibia from PSI Holding Group Inc. in November 2010 for an undisclosed amount. Akibia’s founder and chairman, Thomas Willson, and president and CEO Thomas Tucker, joined the management council of Zensar at that time. With the name change, Zensar also named several executives to oversee the IMS business, including Vivek Gupta as chief executive of global IM business, and Doug Fallon as vice president of US sales. Gupta has spent 27 years at Zensar in a number of positions around the globe, including leading all delivery operations.
Fallon has 26 years of experience leading various divisions and business units within the IT services and outsourcing industry. Ankit Ghosh will remain senior vice president and global head IM consulting practice, and Scott Fiore remains as vice president of global IM operations. A statement from the company announcing the name change made no mention of either Willson or Tucker and neither is listed among the leadership team on the company’s website. The company was unable to confirm whether either person is still involved with the company as of deadline. “I look forward to leading the IMS team as we continue to deliver world class products and services. The IMS business unit currently comprises 35 percent of Zensar’s overall revenue and the continued growth of IMS will play a pivotal role in Zensar’s corporate growth strategy,” Gupta said in a statement. “Over the last two quarters, we have signed several large IMS contracts, including a multi-year total infrastructure outsourcing deal in which Zensar will provide one of our leading telecommunications clients with data center hosting, infrastructure and application services.”
