Reducing our carbon footprint and efficiently managing water and waste at all our locations are critical to our success. We are committed to addressing the short- and long-term risks of climate change on our business and partnering with organizations and communities to create positive change. We monitor how our resources are used and actively track and report our progress to drive performance and achieve our environmental goals.
Goal 1:
To achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by Net Zero FY2045 across the value chain At Zensar, managing and using environmental resources, including energy, is essential to our business. We are committed to conserving energy, using renewable energy, and improving operational efficiency. And to achieve this, we have implemented key projects to reduce our environmental impact and achieve our Net Zero goal by 2045. We are active respondents to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and are happy to share that we have been in “B” management-level scoring.
To address the urgent climate challenges the world faces today, we are happy to share that we have taken comprehensive, well-architected measures to increase the share of our renewable energy consumption beyond 70% as of FY2030 and reduce absolute GHG emissions.
Sub-goal:
A) Energy Performance Index reduction to 50% compared to FY2018-19 baseline for India by FY2029-30
We have taken critical initiatives ranging from energy-efficient lighting to optimizing energy consumption for HVAC and other systems to minimize our energy footprint. We undertake regular energy audits and are on track to phase out UPS systems. We have also replaced 95% of our desktops with laptops leading to a significant reduction in energy consumption.
Goal 2:
Maintain water positivity status year-on-year for owned facilities in India – zero water discharge status for owned premises in India in FY2025-26
Our planet's vulnerable communities face challenges accessing clean and safe water. We have set a goal to achieve zero water wastage by FY2026 and have taken constructive steps in that direction.
Zero waste to landfills status for owned premises in India in FY2026-27 Recognizing the urgent need to protect the world's ecosystems, equal access to a healthy environment for all, and reduce carbon emissions from waste disposal, we have taken a circular approach to materials management, reducing waste, and keeping products and materials in use, particularly at our Pune campus. There's a significant opportunity to unlock the triple bottom line with circularity — delivering societal, environmental, and economic benefits.
